Evansville. I went in then, + found near 20 of my old accquaintances. Col. Conrad Baker, [E.O.?] Lewis + others from Evansville, + Judge Moore (who is brother-in-law to Mrs. Shelby in Sterling) Hooker Melon, Sheriff Williams' son. Asbury Browns son etc + Capt Case from Boonville, and found out all about old friends in both places. Was in clover for a while, I tell you. You can tell Mother when you write that I found them + Judge Moore sent his respects to her + the friends at Sterling. There are various reports in camp of where we are going + when etc that I don't credit because I dont know. We are fixing for Winter here any how, There is occasionally a picket shot, but not often. The 29th Wisconsin, + 30th Iowa have arrived here + the 31st Iowa looked for today. One of Co. "K" accidentally shot himself in the foot one day. So that since it has been taken off above the ancle. I talked with one last night that said she + 5 others left her master in Louisiana 6 weeks ago, and after bushing it so long got here 3 days ago. Some from Mississppi, and out back in this state Well I have given you all the news I believe the boys are generally lively. Jo S, is well Moreton, fat as ever. Jenkins ditto. Barrett well. Patterson, better than for months [?] well. Now for myself. I see by the "Herald" that according to the resolution you can draw Most County Orders in any sum not less than $1,00. Now I would draw some $10,00 or more, in one 9/". and about the same in two S/". or more perhaps 15.00 in two 9/"., and some 3 S/". and some 5 9/". and only one or two 10 S/". for
