W H Lloyd To preserve apricots [illegible illegible] [illegible] 1 lb of fruit 1/2 lbs pounded loaf sugar. the fruit [illegible] be [illegible] not too ripe. the fruit is put at the bottom of the jar the sugar on the the top the jars to be closely covered with a bladder to be put in a copper of cold water and to [illegible]wit the water. shimmer or tilt the sugar is discolored which must be absorbed without [illegible] the bladder as soon as the sugar is dissolved [illegible illegible] the fire + let the jars [illegible illegible] in the water till cold. ______________________ Sponge Cake 1/4 lb of flour 1/2 lb sifted loaf sugar 5 eggs the whites and yolks to be beaten separately for [illegible] minutes then put them together add the sugar & after add the flour then mixed back together beat for an hour. __________ hot chiltlains boil in a pint of water. 1 oz of copperas? 1 oz of [illegible illegible] 2 [illegible illegible] of spirits of [illegible] & champhor added to the above then cool ___________ to cleanse Tin 1lb [illegible illegible] 1/4 lb of soft soap mixed into a paste with spirits of turpentine
