Much do I wish that circumstances would allow of his leaving an occupation for which is health is not suited! At length, on the evening of the 28th of May, we saw land, and soon Mizen Head, Cape Clear and Fastnet-light were distinctly visible to all. Happy seemed every one to have his expectations gratified, for the swallows flitting about our Ship for many previous hours had awakened a consciousness that 'terra firma" was not far off. Those pretty swallows were a more interesting sight to us than Sea Gulls, Divers or Schools of Porpoises. They seemed to speak of land and of home.
