made it less agreeable to me, so I returned to rugby, and continued my journey to London. And here I am, at the Euston House, adjoining the North Western depot. London in all its immensity is around me and about me on every side. I have taken a short walk, but it is late, so methinks I had best betake me to my curtained couch (all english bed-steads have curtains), and take my needed rest, June 10th/56. My first day in this wide extended Babel is passed, and thank fortune I am with friends. This morning I quitted the Hotel for a Walk. Down Tottenham Ct. Road to Oxford, & through Oxford, Holborn, High Holborn, Poultry Newgate and Cheapside. I kept my course, seeing the Post Office, St. Paul's, the Mansion House, the Bank & Royal Exchange on my way. Being then in the City, I called at Mr. Peabody's and got my letters - those pleasing messingers from home. I also called on Mr. Croskey and presented a letter of introduction from Mumith & Co, and on Gen. Campbell and enquired Mrs, O'Sullivan's address.
