Mrs. Elliotts gingerbread Pint & a half of flour half pint of Sugar, 2 eggs - a small piece of butter about the size of a hens egg, half tea cup full of sour milk - tea spoonfull of saleratus - Ginger to your taste & nutmeg. Stewed Oysters GY To the oysters add a little catsup, pepper, salt, butter, milk & crackers broken in pieces & a little wine. Oyster Soup - Boil a small peice of fresh beef strain the liquor & add boiled chicken cut in strings & add gumbo & oysters. Snaps from Mrs. Wells - 1 cup of [bisted?] molasses, half cup of sour milk 1 spoonful of saleratus - half cup of shortening - little salt & ginger - flour enough to roll out very thin - It takes but a short time to bake them.
