Marble Cake. 1/2 cup of butter. 1/2 cup of white sugar. 1/2 cup sweet milk. 1 1/2 cups of flour. 1 teaspoonful cream of tartar 1/2 of Soda. Whites of two eggs. A little lemon. Dark Cake 1 cup brown sugar. 1/2 cup of butter. 1/2 cup of molasses. 1/2 cup of sour milk. 2 cups of flour. Yolks of two eggs. 1/2 teaspoonful of soda. 1 teaspoonful all kinds of spices.
