11. Date Cookies (Good) 1951 2 c. sifted flour 1/2 t. salt 4 t. baking powder 5 tbsps evaporated milk 1 1/2 c. pitted dates chopped finely 1/2 cup shortening 1 c. sugar 2 beaten eggs. Sift flour, salt, baking powder. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs than milk alternately with flour mixture. Beat thoroughly. Add dates. Drop by spoonfuls on baking sheet. Bake 350 8-10 min or light brown. Pecan Sticks 1/4 c. butter 1 c. br. sugar 1 egg 1 c. cake flour 1/4 teas. salt 1 teas. vanilla 1 teas. b. powder 1/2 c. pecans, chopped. Blend butter, sugar, vanilla and egg well. Add dry ingredients and bake in 350 degree oven. Cut after removing from oven in about 5 minutes
