Soft Ginger Bread 1 qt N.O. Molasses, 1 teacupful of sugar, 1/2 tincupful of [melliot?] lard and butter mixed, 2 tablespoonful of ginger, 2 of soda, 1 qt of sour milk and 3 lbs of flour, Bake in deep pans. Ring Cakes 1 lb of sugar, 5 eggs, 1/4 lb of butter, 1 cup of sour milk, 2 small teaspoonsful of soda, and flour to make it a little stiffer than sugar cake dough. Cut in rings + bake in fat. Lemon Cake 1 lb of sugar, 1 qt of flour, 5 Eggs, 1 cupful of butter, 1 cup of milk, 1 teaspoonful of soda in the milk, 1 teaspoonful of cream a tarter in the flour, 1 lemon grated and juice extracted, mix sugar and butter to a cream, beat in eggs seperately, and put in the yolks, flour and milk then add.
