Soap 2 1/2 lbs. of soda ash, 1 1/4 of lime to five lbs. of soap grease. Put the soda_ash & lime in the kettle with a gallon & half of soft water - let it boil fifteen or twenty minutes - then dip into a tub. Clean out your kettle, and put into your soap grease and skim of lightly that gall & half of water & boil with the grease. Into that lime stuff, put 3 glls. & half of water and fill up the kettle.
