Wednesday August 29th 1934 Busy at home. After early lunch went to Hatties by taxi. The Sickles with Birdie there from Burlington. At three oclock Otts family with Hattie left by Auto for a trip to Ohio. Rob brought me home after supper. Thursday August 30th 1934 At home all day. The people who take my rooms want in tomorrow. I put away some things. Orie Spencer here for a call in afternoon. Friday August 31st 1934 I began early to put things away. Its was a big job in short notice. Mrs Gay down so much. She had Mrs Welsh in the afternoon. I got through I lay down at 3:30. Went to bed early. Very very tired. Saturday September 1st 1934 I wrote LeGrand in forenoon enclosing a letter from Laura that told on The Byingtons & Hattie spending the night then on their way to Ohio. I sent cards to Birdie & Laura. Slept in afternoon. Mrs Gay away some both in forenoon & afternoon. It was 23 years today Mother died. Sunday September 2nd 1934 I was home all day. Rested in PM. Mr & Mrs Gay at the farm late in PM. I read most of the time. Weather cool. Monday September 3rd 1934 Another rain last night and most of today a quiet Labor Day holliday. I wrote Winnie, read in a book. Slept in PM. Mrs Gay busy at home. No mail delivery.
