Saturday January 5th 1924 Did not go down town very early. I spent the PM at Pickens. It rained slightly and turned colder. Wrote Hattie. This is Mothers birthday. 9 years today Hattie & I started down here. Sunday January 6th 1924 We went to S S and church and came home after having our dinner in town. I had a letter from Ida with a gift. Wrote her in the afternoon. Early to bed. Monday January 7th 1924 I worked at bead bag all AM. Mrs Falk and I went to a picture show in afternoon. Weather cold but not enough so to damage fruit. The Iowa City paper of Thursday says George Ball died from injuries received in Auto accident Dec 20. a letter from Lydia. Tuesday January 8th 1924 Weather more moderate. I wrote Cousin Jen, Ella Wilcox, and card to Lydia in forenoon. We went to The Womens Club meeting in afternoon. Letters from both Ott & Hattie, Wednesday January 9th 1924 I wrote to Ott, Mattie Fletcher and Joe Williams in AM. and worked some on Mrs Falks bag. We went to town in PM. In the evening after the meeting Mr Falk and I to picture show. Thursday January 10th 1924 I put a lot of beads on the string and wrote to Lydia. I knit all afternoon. We rode down town late. Letter from Laura. Friday January 11th 1924 It rained most of the forenoon. I wrote to Hattie, Alice Condon and Mrs John Peckham. Gave Mrs Falk check for $15.00. A year since Dr Smith died. Went to picture show in afternoon.
