Buttermilk cake 1 cup buttermilk 1 " of sugar 2 (small) tablespoons butter 1 teaspoon soda 1/2 baking powder 2 cups flour, nutmeg, cinnamon & raisins J.Capel's Loaf Cake Dissolve 1/2 yeast cake in 1 1/2 cups of warm water Stir in flour until like thin cream Let rise until light- Add 2 cups sugar & 2 cups flour. 1 cup butter-2 eggs- salt, nutmeg, raisins, cinnamon 2 teaspoons Baking Powder. This makes 2 loaves.
