Dr Scott's eye wash, 30 grs of Opium, to half a pt hot water, after it has cooled strain through muslin. Then add 20 grs sugar of [lead?]. This is intended as a soothing application to apply to the lid, but not to the ball. Bathe the lid & dampen a soft cloth, & lay over the eye Recipe for cough or hoarseness. Half oz Flaxseed, half oz Liquorice, & fourth of a pound of raisins, put in two quarts of rain water, & slowly simmered down to one quart. Strain it hot over a sufficient quantity of rock candy to sweeten it, & take as needed. Keep it tightly corked up. Lemon juice can be added if desired -
