Saturday July 1, 1916 I went to town at 9:15. Did some errands and was at Dr Smiths' office. I got some lunch and went over in the Auto with Rob. I helped Hattie all afternoon. and came home at 5:30. Will had been in town to a convention and got his dinner there. I had bought things for Will that had to be taken back to change so I went down against after supper.a fearful hot day. We slept down stairs. Sunday July 2nd 1916 another hot day. I was at home all day. I slept some in afternoon. Read some and talked with Will on the porch. Monday July 3rd 1916 I washed in the forenoon and sewed some. I went to town an hour after dinner and ironed after I got home. Tuesday July 4th 1916 I prepared some things to take down home for supper tonight. I went some soon after dinner and visited with Fannie. The Whetstones were out riding with The Jellisons from Des Moines. We had a picnic supper on the hill in front of the old house. The Blooms and Swishers were there. Ott had fire works and Will and I came home at late bed-time. Rob brought us in the car. Otto Jellison went home tonight. Wednesday July 5th 1916 I was at home all day I did some baking and sewed a little. Took a nap and did fancy work on the porch after supper. a letter from Louise Stinson Bradley.
