Wednesday May 9th 1917 This is Hatties 60th birthday. She came out to spend the day with me. I was fixing the back and cushion for a chair that took all my spare time. I red in evening. Will busy picking up the trash from under the trees. Thursday May 10th 1917 I baked bread and got the dinner. Levi Hill was helping Will change the door yard fence today. I went to town at 1:15 to see "The Mothers of France" with "Sarah Bernhardt." in the leading role. Later I went in the bank, got a $300.00 time deposit. I got some new furniture at Schneiders. Two rocking chairs and a book rack. They send then out before supper. It rained in the evening. I read the papers. Friday May 11th 1917 I wrote to Ida, Cousin Jen, a card to Lydia. I worked out in the yard some where the boys were changing the fence. After dinner I was still out doors at work. I had supper so I started to go down at 6:15 but Mr Plum took me in the Auto. LeGrand was home a few hours this afternoon to get ready to go to "Ft Snelling." After he left for the 8:25 train east I come home. cards from Birdie. letter from Lizzie Lindley. Saturday May 12th 1917 It is 31 years today since Will and I were married. Two years ago today we started to Ohio and last year we were in Memphis. I was at home at work all day. I covered a stool with carpet in afternoon. Will to town twice. William brought him home in afternoon as the cars were hindered by a freight car of the track. Read papers in evening.
