Monday June 11th 1917 I did a little baking early in the forenoon. Birdie came out for the day. We had supper early and went down to meet the folks and hear the band play. I came home at 8:15 Tuesday June 12th 1917 I went down at 12:15 to take dinner with Birdie as Hattie was obliged to be away. They went to Wellman in the afternoon and I came home. There was a terrible rain storm jist at supper time. The folks got home safely. Wednesday June 13th 1917 I went down at 11:15 to meet Birdie and Hattie and go to the Alumni Dinner at The Armory. We heard today the man is here to select the men for an ambulance unit for the war. And that William has been accepted. Woe Woe what sorrow. I called at [Huebners?] in afternoon and came home at 4:30. Thursday June 14th 1917 I did a little washing but it was so windy and cold I put the clothes to soak. I talked with Will in the afternoon and worked on my bed spread. I feel very badly. Friday June 15th 1917 I finished the washing and got them dry by noon. I am in a wretched state of mind. Fannie is home and William must go tomorrow. He came out to see me and later Rob & Hattie came and took me down in the Auto. The folks had supper with Hattie. Will and I walked over town to come home. a lovely day.
