Tuesday January 22nd 1918
Busy about the house most of the forenoon. Vene trying to
iron some. Sophie Woolf called early in the afternoon. After
she left I went up town. I tried to find out some thing about
trains to Biloxi. I had a letter from Cora. Washed in evening
wrote William and sent package of handkerchiefs.
Wednesday January 23rd 1918
I was at home all day. Vene did some washing. It was
too late to put it out. I began knitting Stella a pair of
mittens. weather threatening. Will up town part of the time,
Thursday January 24th 1918
Vene got the clothes out and dry. It was pleasanter today.
I kept busy with my knitting but helped some with the
work. Had a letter from Hattie & Tishie. a year today we started South.
Friday January 23rd 1918
I helped Vene iron part of the forenoon. I finished the
mittens by three oclock. Then got in some snow to melt
while Vene was ironing. It is warmed than for days. I had
another letter from Tishie. Mrs Smith is very bad indeed.
a letter from Fannie. I [pressed?] and finished Stella's mittens.
Saturday January 26th 1918
I did some work about the house. Did up Stella's mittens
and wrote a card. Will took them to the office after dinner.
I did up the sinner work which was late and Vene went up
town to attend to some matters of business. In the
evening Stella, Jay & daughter were here being detained
in Delavan by a freight train of the track. They had 
been in Peoria for the day. Were here till late bedtime.
