Wednesday June 5th 1918 Will went down at 8:33 to have his dentistry finished. I washed a few things. I feel so much better and picked the first strawberries for supper. Late in the afternoon there was another terrible rain with lightning. The river is very high. Thursday June 6th 1918 I did not feel so well this morning. But got the breakfast Will went down to see how high the river was and get the mail. The carrier could not get out. The water is all over The Folsom flat. I laid down and slept awhile. Got dinner and picked a big dish of berries for supper. I fixed a lamp as The Light Plant is flooded. After supper Will & I walked down to the creek to look at the water. It is very high. Friday June 7th 1918 The river raised all day and is nearly all over the lower part of town. I have felt very badly all day. I laid down after dinner and slept a little while. When I woke up Will said some families had to leave their homes. I went over to Mrs Jones and told her to send any here who did not have places. But no one came. We sat on the porch all the evening. Saturday June 8th 1918 I was wretchedly sick all day. Only up long enough to get the meals with Wills help. He worked some in the garden. I got to sleep awhile in the afternoon. Art Jones went to town and be brought me out something different from Dr Smith. he brought the mail. I had a letter from Hattie. Lydia and Louise Bradley at Mountain View. The river is falling rapidly.
