Saturday August 10th 1918 I felt a little better in the forenoon and wrote in this book. Had a card from Lydia. Mary Woolf spent the afternoon with me. very warm. I helped Will with the supper and was on the bed all evening. Sunday August 11th 1918 A hot day. Reed Hedges brought us out fried chicken for our dinner. The home folks were out before noon. I read some and slept in the afternoon. Monday August 12th 1918 An awful hot day. I was up very little. Rob Cora Fannie & Lulu Bloom were out after supper. Ott goes away for a week tonight. Tuesday August 13th 1918 Still very warm. I baked a little cake this morning. I had a letter from Hattie. I was in bed most of the day. I sat on the porch part of the evening. Wednesday August 14th 1918 I felt wretched all day. Had headache and my heart hurt so. I had a letter from Ida. I wrote her a card a letter to Hattie too. I was out of medicine and Dr Smith came out at 6:30. Rob & Cora here a little later. Thursday August 15th 1918 We had quite a rain last night. weather cooler. I had a nice note from Gertrude Smith and a letter from Lydia. I baked a little bread today. I was on the bed all afternoon. I knit some and read. I am not suffering so much as I did.
