Wednesday October 2nd 1918 I washed some this morning and got the dinner. a fine day. I went to town at 1:24 and got some things needed. I ironed a few things before supper. I finished Buds socks in the evening. Thursday October 3rd 1918 I baked bread and other things in forenoon and finished the ironing in afternoon. Will cutting wood. We looked for Frank Woolf & wife with Vene. Got word not to look for them. Friday October 4th 1918 I put up a few tomatoes in forenoon. When the mail came there was a card the folks would start today. I had rested a little and had jist come down stairs at 4:15 when they drove into the yard. We were surprised to see them so early. visited with Vene all evening. Saturday October 5th 1918 Vene and I neither were well today. Her stomach was upset from the ride yesterday and I had done a little too much heavy work that I did not feel at the time. warm and pleasant. Will to town in the afternoon. We spent the time visiting. Went to bed rather early. Ida our for awhile. Sunday October 6th 1918 Vene was to have gone to Aunt Emmas for dinner but gave it up. She did not feel like it and there is a panic in town over The Spanish influenza. The students are in quarantine. Frank and Sophia have gone over to Jennies as Reed Hedges is ill. Only a cold [known?]. We were out home some of the folks got out. I slept in afternoon while Will and Vene visited.
