Sunday December 22nd 1918 I could not gt up till three oclock. Mrs Dow went to Des Moines this afternoon. Will Thomas and wife called. There is a change from the beautiful weather we have had. Monday December 23rd 1918 Did not get up till noon. about two oclock Rob came to the foot of the hill and we girls walked down to the car. I went to Dr Bronsons office. we came at supper time. I feel very wretched tonight. Only think of two weeks ago. Tuesday December 24th 1918 I did not get up all day. I received some mail. Hattie busy with her own affairs. Wrote Vene. snowed all day. Wednesday December 25th 1918 Christmas when meant nothing to me but an agony of regret, loneliness and tears. I was sick in mind and body. The folks ate dinner down at Otts. I could not look at gifts. Hattie called Dr Smith in afternoon. Thursday December 26th 1918 I ate a little today and took the medicine Dr Smith left me. I can see no reason why I should get well. Hattie eats part of her meals with me. I only sat up in bed to eat. Friday December 27th 1918 A little stronger than yesterday. wrote some letters and received some. Orrie Spencer called Lulu Bloom came to Robs. Saturday December 28th 1918 Not much stronger but wrote notes of thanks for flowers and one to Dr Ellis. Will and I would have started to Delavan today had he been left to me. Ott here for a few moments.
