Monday December 29th 1919 It was a very pleasant day. Vene and Edith did a big washing. I had a letter from Ott with a release of the S. E. Powers mortgage to sign. I wrote him and went up town for that. I had been up in the morning for the mail. I went over to Lizzie Duncans after mailing Otts letter and staid till dark. Martie came unexpectedly on the 6:35 from Bloomington. Tuesday December 30th 1919 another nice day. I sewed some sewing for Laura. The folks were busy ironing and visiting among themselves. I have felt very low spirited today. I had a letter from Hattie. She is busy with her own affairs this week. The folks had callers in the afternoon. Wednesday December 31st 1919 I was busy doing some things for myself. I finished my waist and did some mending. Late in the afternoon I took a walk up town. I met Mrs McClay coming from the cemetery. After supper the folks packed a small trunk with things for Martie to take home with her. It was late when we all went to bed. I had a letter from Ott with a draft for a hundred dollars. The last day of 1919. How many times have Will and I wondered if we would he here when it came to be 1920 and I have had to live without him more than a year. Bless his dear loving heart what a joy it would be to hear his voice.
