Sunday December 22nd 1912 As I expect company tomorrom I had some extra house work to do, and I did up and washed [pocheges?] I wrote Aunt Sarah in the afternoon. fine weather just as I finished Ott called up and told us word had come that Jay Denton had been killed in an Auto accident. He was alone. I wrote Lydia & Nellie I intended going to church but sent my letters by some one else. Monday December 23rd 1912 I was busy all morning with the dinner. Fannie & Birdie came at 10:40 and Hattie & Louie an hour later. we had a nice visit and I worked at my fancy work some. Tuesday December 24th 1912 I was busy all morning. Did some writing. I went to town at 1:15. Did a lot of writing up in Otts office got the mail in. Did some errand and walked over the river. Stopped to see Blanche at Coras, come home at 4:30 I had a pair of pillow cases from Ida & Nellie. Wednesday December 25th 1912 We went down at 9:15 and to Jay Dentons funeral at ten oclock at Herenschert Parlors. It was most sad. Fannie & Hattie went to the cemetery. we had dinner at Otts. Then looked at presents. Will came home to do chores and back to Hatties to supper. Otts family and all of us spent the evening at Robs where we were delighted with Otto Jellisons singing. We came home at 10:30. what a day it has been and the weather like a lovely fall day. I got a nice lot of gifts.
