Thursday August 14th 1913 I was busy about home most of forenoon. a card from Ida says she will be here at 3:38. I went down at 2:15 paid Mr Bremmer for insurance on West Farm buildings. 15.00 and released Charles Sager mortgage at the court house. I took Ida over the river. The Shultz girls were all at Hatties. Ida and I went on the Chautauqua where we met Will and all came home together. I wrote Lydia. Friday August 15th 1913 Ida and I went to Chautauqua in afternoon, met Hattie there and went over to Otts for supper. Will was there too and him & I came home by way of Chautauqua but Ida staid all night at Hatties Saturday August 16th 1913 A frightfully hot day. I went down to Fannies at 2:15 and Ida and I had supper at Hatties. We did not try to go to Chautauqua but came home at 8:30 from the track by the lower bridge bringing Idas things with us Sunday August 17th 1913 I got up at 5 oclock and got Idas breakfast and put her on the 6:15 car to go home by Cedar Rapids. I was busy with the work later on. I slept most of the afternoon. It was very hot and stormed at night as we could not go to Chautauqua. Monday August 18th 1913 I washed a few pieces this morning [four lines of illegible deleted text] I was at home sewing on some old things I am fixing over in muslin under wear. not much cooler after the rain.
