Sunday August 9th 1914 William came for us in the Auto about 11:30. After dinner at Otts they took us a long ride down past Lone Tree. We got back at 6 oclock and Will came on home. I stayed at Otts till after seven then came past Coras and sat on the porch with her a little while. I came on through the Chautauqua grounds and on home at 8:30. It is the last night. I did not care to stop. Monday August 10th 1914 I was sewing all day. I did not feel much if any better and am taking medicine. I wrote Hattie in evening. Tuesday August 11th 1914 I went to town at 8:15. I got me a new white dress and some other things. I sewed all the afternoon. Wednesday August 12th 1914 I was busy sewing all day. We had a card from Edith and from Rob Duncan saying Irene died at a Peoria Hospital. There was no particulars. I wrote both of them in the evening. Thursday August 13th 1914 Cora came out to spend the day as Rob had gone to Davenport. I did some baking and got the dinner at 3:15. Cora went home and I down town. Was up to the Presbyterian church to pay 10 [cts?] and register for a little [fan?]. I did some shopping and saw the Dr again. He changed the medicine. I got home at 5:30. I sewed some in the evening.
