Thursday August 3rd 1899 It was a very hot day. The men were stacking I did the cooking and got some sewing done in afternoon Friday August 4th 1899 Had churning done this forenoon and Will took the butter to town in the afternoon. I went up to Stevens to visit with the girls from up home who were there. It rained on us coming home. Saturday August 5th 1899 We had early dinner and went to town Will took me out to East Iowa City where they were having a picnic and I came back in the Tally-ho with some of the valley girls. I took our rig and drove over home. We had a delightful afternoon worked before we went to town and [ironed] by lamp light Sunday August 6th 1899 We went to church this morning and over to Woolfs where we had such a pleasant visit till five oclock we hurried home to do evening work. Monday August 7th 1899 Will had help and nearly finished the stacking today by working very late. I was busy about the place the most of the day. I set four hens to try and raise some late chickens. looks like rain
