27 Christmas tree at Fannys and the dinner was there. The Ashleys were invited besides our own family. Lee was not able to go over to dinner. We got some presents. The day soon passed. We came home before it was late. Poor Charlie could not be with us today. Thursday December 26th 1895 It was a fine day. Will helped me do a big washing before noon. I baked bread and cake after dinner and ironed most of the clothes before bed-time. The boys hauled straw in the afternoon. Friday December 27th 1895 I finished ironing, churned, and baked pies in the forenoon. After dinner I walked up to see Mrs. Hawke. I got the supper and done up my work I did the mending in the evening. A nice winter day. Saturday December 28th 1895 The work was all done and we were ready to go to town by nine oclock. After doing a few errands, Will took me over the river. I found Mother alone the girls had gone to Oxford. I helped with the dinner. Lee feels better. We started home at four oclock, having spent a pleasant day. I read in the evening. Sunday December 29th 1895 It was late when we got up and as the roads were bad did not go to church. I was busy most of the forenoon with the work and was all afternoon and evening reading a book that Will borrowed at Chalfonts a few days ago. Weather cold, today
