Saturday August 1st 1896 The folks went home as they expected company. Will and I talked the most of the forenoon. I got early dinner and we went down town. I was up in the office talking with Ott about our buying the farm and walked on over the river. I found others there. We come home in time to do the evening work. Sunday August 2nd 1896 It was a very warm day. I was busy most of the forenoon with the work. Will and I read and rested all day. There was no one here. Monday August 3rd 1896 Will went down town this morning her found my pin and cross. Sold the red calf a year old for thirty five dollars. We had early dinner and went down to look over the Henry Bird farm. Did the evening work and talked about the farm. a day that everything went right. Tuesday August 4th 1896 Seth came back on the early morning train. They took the calf in town. "Belle" ran away this morning but did not hurt Will who was in the cart. Charlie Hedges came today and began work. I went to town in the afternoon. it was fearful hot. I was over the river a little while. Our best Jersey cow died at noon today. The boys finished the stack in the afternoon and it was late supper time when the{y} got the cow buried. Fanny Graham was out in the evening with some of the Rankin family. she was out last night.
