Wednesday May 23rd 1894 I ironed a little in the forenoon and washed out my gingham dress. I finished ironing all the rest of the things in the afternoon. I got the chickens taken care of and the most of the evening work when it rained quite a hard shower. I did a little mending in the evening. Thursday May 27th {1894} I did the mending and put the clothes away this forenoon, did baking and got dinner early as I expected to go to town or to the valley. It looked so much like rain that I did not go. Will finished harrowing the sod corn early and we made more garden and he mowed the yard. Rob Whetstones came out on horse-back to tell us that Ott & Fanny have a boy baby born late yesterday afternoon. It is a great relief to know it. Friday May 25th 1894 I went in to see Fanny and the baby this morning. I stopped in town to renew the note I have at the bank. Will was in town for a new plow and meal for my chickens. It rained soon after dinner. I read and knit awhile, then went out and made a chicken coop. The boys worked late tonight. It was nine oclock when I got my evening work all done.
