3rd Friday Jan 5th 1872 Mother went to town with Grandma this morning Grandma did not come back but went down to Jim McCollisters. I taught today and in the evening Charlie and I went over to Mr Moores to spend the eve had a very pleasant time playing cards with some friends, my Friend [Lennie?] Kirkpatrick goes home tomorrow. We got home at half past twelve pleasant winter weather. Two years tonight I attended a party at Meygotts with Peter. Saturday Jan 6th 1872 Did not get up very early this morning I helped do up the morning work after that I dressed and went to town made several calls and some purchases, payed some bills I owed among other things Mrs Templin $9.00 for my winter hat saw some people in from the country that I knew. No letters today. I went to Mr Townsends gallery and had a picture taken to send to Dr Harrington I thought it was very good I left it with Mr Huebner he will give it to me next time I see him. A nice day not very cold prospect of more snow a little snow would make good sleighing got home at four oclock pretty tired. Mother been at home all day.
