14th Tuesday Jan 30th 1872 A cold day. In the morning Charlie went out to the school house and built a fire for me I taught till afternoon recess and Rob finished stopped at Folsoms to see how George was as I came home helped get the supper and done up the work Father and Mother was into Thornburys a few moments I knit all the evening. Will try and teach all day tomorrow Wednesday Jan 31st 1872 Did not get up very early, went over and built my own fire this morning and went over to Fletchers before school the sick folks over there are improving slowly taught all day and stood it much better than I expected to. George is some better I stopped there again tonight when I came home there was a letter here for me from Pete it contained a plain gold ring he dont feel right about my going with Mr H_ so much dont know what I'll do One month of the new year has passed very swiftly and pleasantly to me We have had much cold weather this month it was extremely cold today
