238th Wednesday December 30th 1874 I walked to school and back again today. The young ladies came out here again this afternoon. I ironed a little in the evening I received an invitation to attend a party at Mr McKinstrys tomorrow night. I wrote to Rob, Ott and Liz today. Thursday December 31st 1874 I walked to school and back again today. As soon as I had eaten my supper I changed my dress to go to the party tonight. I had a letter from Charlie today and one from Lou Reeves. We all went to the party and enjoyed it very much. And now I come to write for another December 31st. God grant I may know less of sorrow in the year before me than I have known in the past year. Give me strength to bear whatever trial I may be called upon to. And Father in Heaven spare to me those who are so dear to me, I crave thy love and mercy for them and myself. Iowa Byington
