gov't which ignores this demand is a deceiver and deception in gov't is the highest of crimes. The sound, honest way to aid underprivileged individuals & nations is to help them help themselves, enable them to become strong and productive. Paternalism is but a stop-gap and a contemptible one at that. What part should the state gov'ts play in producing a better society & way of life? How dangerous is the growth of tolls & excise taxes on traffic bet. states? Profit is a legitimate incentive but it must go hand in hand with the grander aim maximum production at low costs. Monopolies formed for the purpose of restricting prod. & thus controlling the price structure is a crime against society and the free enterprise system. How can any political candidate be really free & independent in thought & policy when he is dependent on wealthy backers for campaign funds? Is there any practical remedy for this seemingly inescapable situation? Pro & con of patent rights? How best to meet the Negro problem? Is this war a people's revolution or a struggle for survival or both? The Constitution is a magnificent instrument but it is not a dispensation from on high. We must not be afraid to let it grow & change, nor to fear a liberal interpretation in the interest of social gain & justice. However, let our
