The conditions under which these coal miners live - and the Negroes in the south - is a shameful blot on our democratic ideals and the potential standard of living in this country. Bizerte & Tunis are now captured, the show in N.A. is about over. Presume the invasion of the continent will begin the latter part of June. Its success will depend on the overall strategy, air superiority, reduction of the sub menace in the N.A., and on the revolt of the people in the occupied countries. Now there is the matter of the noisy, prolonged laughter at movies & stage plays which make it impossible to hear the succeeding remarks & repartee.
