Everyone saluting the colors at sunset as they are hauled down. 5/20 - Thursday Went to the beach today, operating out of Edinburgh field. Got 12 hits out of 79 - believe I've gotten the word on this gunnery. "Navy phonetic alphabet" "snafu" - "tarfu" "gook money", etc "sea stories" "airdales" "spooky nite' Used to read at least 40 or 50 pages a day. Since some of us started playing bridge a few days ago I haven't read a word. 5/12-Fri. Ken Kavanaugh & 3 other Army pilots were aboard observing today. They are flying B18s on patrol duty out of Trinidad. Tony Bremer, formerly a swimmer at Iowa, also was on board. He is flying PBYs out of here. 5/22-Saturday No flight operations today. All pilots went swimming - and drinking - at Maggueripe, an officers club and beach built by the British about 40 years ago and recently taken over
