Saving...
Tuesday - March 3 Fired the machine gun again this morning - this time through the prop itself. No record was kept of our hits which saved me further embarassment. Aerial gunnery is a fine art. I have much work ahead of me if I ever am to be any good. Major Passmore, the baseball coach, put me behind the plate for the first night of batting practice. It was the first time in five years I had caught with a mask & protector. Got along pretty well but I hope my blinking & lunging on strikes wasn't as evident to him as to me. Also got to hit a few - could hardly say my eye was sharp. Some more boys from New Orleans came in today, but none of the K.C. men were among them. According to reports Hobbs is still stationed at N. Orleans. It would be a crime if he were sent to Corpus instead of over here. Time passes quickly - the days tumble over each other in their eagerness to end the week. "E" base training at K.C. seems like ancient history.
