an instructor and play football. As politely and yet as firmly, as I knew how I told him I never again wanted to play any football, and that I would really rather go to the fleet than remain as an instructor. All of which is a true representation right now. Mayhap, I'll change my mind before I'm designated. Another bad crackup out in squadron one today. This training is no picnic - plenty of the boys are shipped home feet first. Thursday - March 12 This day's routine was just like the one before it and the one that will follow. I shall be glad when we start flying. More than once in the past few months, speeches that I have made have come to mind. It is strange that what I considered then as a pretty good talk now seems naive, unimpressive, possessing little merit. Some times I momentarily feel embarassed - I wonder what others thought - would it all have been better unsaid? No, I think not, though undoubtedly there was plenty of chaff and hot air in most of the talks.
