& then. Didn't get in until awfully late - kind of a poor time, too. Will be glad when Bob gets in on Wed - very glad. Sunday - Mar 15. Supposed to have a mate of the dock watch today, but got out of it because I'm on the baseball squad. Don't have to fall in for parades and inspections on Fridays either. Feel kind of low today. Used to worry about getting into a field of life endeavour that would be sure & press my capabilities. Now I am wondering whether I didn't have a rather exalted idea of the extent of those capabilities. Probably won't take much to exhaust them. Service life and the prospect of the future kind of stifles the ambition - at least the tendency exists. One thing is certain - when this is all over I'll have a much greater appreciation for those things in civilian life which I used to take for granted.
