Saving...
he expected to get on earth. I reiterate that the fare is good but you don't want to enter the mess hall without warming up. You don't have a chance if you do. Its every man for himself & devil take the hindmost which is an empty platter. Have I yet said that my roommate is an inveterate gargler. Every night he takes a pull at the Listerine bottle, throws back his head and gurgles with gusto - and not for just a little while either. No sir, he keeps at it until a thorough job is done. Makes me feel as if my own personal toilet is quite incomplete. Wednesday - Mar. 18. Regular routine. Weather sunny & pleasant. Bob Hobbs got in about noon, looking very snappy in his blue uniform. His tales of life at the New Orleans base jibe well with the impression Pettit & I got. What the devil are the labor leaders & Roosevelt thinking about in refusing to repeal the 40 hr week law. Doesn't seem quite right to me. Looks just like the sort of thing that wrecked France.
