Saving...
Received another clipping on what life at Iowa City will be like for the new pilots who go in preliminary training there about April 1st. For three months they are to indulge in nothing but strenuous exercise & a little ground school. Cross country, wood chopping, etc. are supposedly in the program - and no liberty! Sounds nuts to me. You'd think our aviators were going to fight this war in hand to hand conflict. Knox & Tunney have gone berserk on this physical training business. Thank goodness they have been able to keep such nonsense off this base. Here we have no regiment calisthentics stultified by such exercises as the explosive punch, etc., but rather get to choose our own type of athletics and participate at least three times a week.
