tomorrow - hope so. Wed. - March 25 We lost to Mich. State 6 - 3 this afternoon. Really a crime to be beaten by that outfit, particularly, by the pitcher who hurled the whole nine innings. He tossed them up there big as balloons. Major Passmore sent me into pinch hit in the ninth with a man on second, one down, and trailing by 3 runs. I busted the first pitch down the 3rd base line for a single. The 3rd sacker managed to knock it down, but he didn't even attempt to throw to first. The steal sign was given on the second pitch to the next batter, and I "streaked" for the keystone sack - no luck, they threw me out without much trouble. It had been so long since I had tried to run the bases I wasn't sure how big a lead to take off first. Anyhow it wasn't big enough, or I was too slow or something.
