Monday - Mar. 30 Clambered into busses at 5:50 AM which took us out to Saufley field where squadron 10 training is given. It is a fine big field with "millions" of yellow N3Ns taking off & landing all the time. We received a lecture on the course rules and the general program of training to be followed, then hung around doing nothing until noon. Spent the afternoon in navigation class. This is going to prove a more interesting & enjoyable schedule than the previous five weeks, I'm sure. Tuesday - Mar. 31 Most of the boys got up for their first hop today, but mine was scratched. Did meet my instructor however. His name is McCroskey, and he seems like a right good fellow. He is short, average build, pleasant faced, quiet spoken. His rank is full lieutenant in the regular navy. Started work on dead reckoning in navigation class - tedious work but fun. Hit a few golf balls around 5 oclock - much better than playing baseball.
