Wed. - April 1 Had my first hop today. Every thing went well. We shot a few landings at one of the auxiliary fields, did a little air work, coped with a couple of cut guns & then called it quits for the morning. McCroskey said it was a good ride & talked of soloing me tomorrow. Was very generous in his compliment of the way I taxied - said it was the best job any of his students had done regardless of stage of training - then admonished me not to forget how I did it! Sure is good to get to fly again. Happy to find that most of what I learned at K. C. has stayed by me. Practiced a little radio sending after coming down. Dealt with running fixes & corrections of radio bearings in navigation this afternoon. Have quit baseball definitely - am positive it is a wise move. Shot the "bull" with Hobbs for about & hour half this evening. Very enjoyable for us both - wish we were rooming together.
