Saving...
Sat - April 11 Flew three hours of solo today. Did pretty well on wingovers, but not so good on slips to circles. Was pretty well bushed again when I came down. Not as bad as yesterday, however. I can see how it takes lots & lots of flying hours before you have any business calling yourself a pilot. Bataan peninsula has fallen to the Japs. Heroic men, those Americans and Philippinos, how long will they be able to hold Corregidor commanding the mouth of Manila Bay? When will the Allies take the offensive? Sometimes this war looks to be an interminable mess. In what little leisure time I can find I am reading the "Last Puritan" by Santayana. Wonderfully well written, it holds my interest keenly.
