Thursday - April 16 Didn't do so very well today - my small field procedure was anything but good. McCroskey didn't complain much, but, nonetheless, it didn't satisfy me by a long shot. He took time out to show me some things I had asked about not included in the general instruction routine - carrier landings, night landings, landing on one wheel, taking off in a minimum distance, side slips, etc. He is an excellent flier - it is a treat to ride with him and watch him operate. Final test in celestial "nav" tomorrow. Must get to bed and so I'll be a little bit sharp tomorrow. And still no letter from Merle. Its been a long time now, and I can't imagine why!
