Friday - Apr 17 Had a pretty good day flying - 3 hours of solo - practised slips, wingovers, flipper turns, carrier landings, - lot of fun but rather tiring. Received a 3.4 in my celestial "nav" final. Sounds like a pretty good grade, but in navigation 4.0 is the only really satisfactory mark. Had the inevitable parade at 5:30, it being Friday. Must say I detest them. Retired early, but slept poorly. Will make up for it Sat. night if we don't fly Sunday. Saturday - April 18 Soloed 1 1/2 hours, then had a period of instruction. Things went well, and I should get by my 20 hr. check on Monday ok. We had our first liberty in 12 days tonight. Had a late dinner in town with Bob, Ken being in the hospital with an arm infection, then drove back to the base and a short lookin at
