Saving...
Thursday - May 7. Clouds closed in about the middle of the afternoon and caused the cancellation of our formation flying. Practiced a little radio sending, read a couple of articles in the Sat. Eve. Post, napped briefly. Received a most flattering letter from Bibba in reply to the commendation I gave her in the Hawkeye. She has been awfully frank in the nice things she says about me ever since I met her - almost embarrasses me sometimes. Also had a letter from Kilmer Bartz who is now getting fighter training at Miami. He is very enthusiastic, and makes me much the same way. Carrier duty would be exciting, adventurous, full of action, requiring the utmost in skill and daring. All of which suddenly recalls to me a statement, Richard Hillary in his fine book falling through space - "in war one can swiftly develop all one's faculties to a degree it would take half a lifetime to achieve."
