Saving...
Friday - May 8 No flying at squadron today because of rain and clouds. Studied a little for the test tomorrow in strategy & tactics. Received a fine letter from Celia this afternoon, and one from another comely lass of my acquaintance. The female front seems once more to be all in order. Oh for a nice long leave! A terrific naval battle is raging between the U. S. & Japan northeast of Australia. The length of this war may in a great measure be determined by its outcome. Conflicting reports are being out, but the first round seems to have gone to the U. S. Sat. - May 9. Flew three hours of formation today. Things went pretty well, but don't believe I did quite as well as the other two boys. We will get some instruction in echelons on Monday. And still I have no whites. Loaned Pettit my car for a trip to town. Bob & I stayed for about ten minutes of the movie showing at the station
