theater and then wandered back to his room for a bull session. It broke up early, and I was in bed by 9:15 - can you imagine that on a Sat. night. Had a letter from Barbara in the afternoon - short, and not too well pleased with the tardiness of my last letter. Sun - May 10 [I have fallen behind in this record rather badly. I am writing this on Friday May 15.] Bob & I hit some golf balls in the morning and went down to the beach in the afternoon. A lazy day of which I could take more. Monday - May 11. We got instruction in echelons today and in touch & go landings in formation, followed by two hours of solo. Things went pretty well, which is gratifying, since we check tomorrow.
