Mon - May 18
Just this one week more, then the end of ground school. Boy, that will really be great.
Checked in at squadron three today. Will probably start my "link" hops tomorrow.
How rapidly the weeks have gone. Soon I shall have been in the service 6 months. It hardly seems possible. Should get my commission in Aug. sometime. Man, how I would like to get back up into Iowa for a few days at that time - via K.C.
Tomorrow, or the next day, I should be able to find out what duty I got. Hope it is fighters.
Tuesday - May 19
Well, I got fighters alright, that is, I shall get VC training at Miami. I may end up in dive or torpedo bombers, however.
Had my first hop in the link trainer at squadron three today. Didn't do very well. The technique is entirely diff. than in operating an airplane.
